So instead of complaining about the summer heat (which I could very easily do all day) I have decided to do some research and spend that time learning how to do fun summer hairstyles to stay cooler!
Fun Summer hair- So normally I think of braids being a little girl thing, but with hair down to my waist, I have to be creative, and granny buns all the time get old really fast. I have done some research and found some really awesome ideas/tutorials for how to do fun summer hairstyles. Most of these you can do yourself with a mirror to see the back of your hair, but you can also practice on a friend. Now for some ridiculously amazing tutorials:
By far the best hair tutorials I have ever seen. -These are amazing hairstyles, and she makes them so easy to follow! Mostly updos and hair for parties, weddings etc. Totally worth the time, and just watching her makes me wanna go experiment with my hair.
Neat blog with a bunch of braiding hair tutorials including the halo braid, mermaid braid, fishtail braid etc.
A couple other things that make summer more fun:
Ice cold wash cloths. Get a few wash cloths wet and put them in the frig for awhile. They will be ice cold and soooo refreshing after a workout, after coming in from outside, or to give to a guest who has come in from a car ride. Note: these are best when wet, and they only stay wet about a day or so, and then just drench them again in the sink and put back in frig until use.
Ice water. I know this sounds kinda simple, but having a cup full of really cold ice water really helps me stay cool and hydrated. Once of the things I notice most about summer is that I always feel dehydrated, and so this keeps me hydrated as well as feeling a little cooler. I may not appreciate ice water the rest of the year, but man, i sure appreciate it in the summer. It's nice to have a cup or bottle that is just for that purpose, and then I can bring it with me wherever I go.
Cold snacks- Things that we normally wouldn't think about eating cold suddenly becoming very appealing. Things a bit unusual but tasty to try might be frozen grapes and frozen peas. These both make a fun, healthy snack, and also help to cool down a bit.
